The Montreat Cavalier cross country team competed at the AAC XC Championships on Saturday and turned in a number of good individual performances. Despite two of the top male Cavalier athletes being suspended, the men persevered for a fourth place finish in the AAC and were led by talented freshmen Andy Roof and Joel Gibbs. Roof finished first for the Cavaliers for the fourth time this season, while Gibbs finished second for the Cavs in just his third race of the year. Roof, 14th overall, likely will not qualify for the National Championships despite finishing inside the required top-15, but nonetheless Coach Herbert was impressed with his efforts.
