The Cavaliers were back on the track this Saturday, competing at the JDL Fast Track Championship Tune Up in Winston-Salem. The Cavaliers had a number of excellent performances, and as a team put together one of their best meets of the young season. Continuing to improve as the season progresses, Senior Captain Lauren Kelly ran a personal best time in the 3000 meter competition, finishing in 11:52. "Lauren ran an aggressive race and it paid off for her today. Her brother and sister-in-law came to watch her run today, and I know that she wanted to have a big race. We talked all week about breaking 12 minutes and she went out there and got it done," said Coach Herbert.

The Cavaliers took the track on Saturday, competing against a number of NCAA and NAIA schools at Clemson University's Tiger Paw Invitational. A couple weeks of training did wonders for the Cavaliers as they rebounded from a sub-par performance at ETSU with a number of improved performances this weekend. Senior Billy Parker got the Cavaliers on th right track with a season best performance in the 60HH, finishing in a time of 8.94, just 0.07 seconds off his career best. Although he failed to clear opening height in the high jump, Coach Herbert was pleased with his efforts.

The Cavalier Track & Field team competed at ETSU last weekend, opening up their season at one of the premier indoor track facilities in the East. The meet was the first of the season for the Cavaliers, and it marked the third consecutive year that the team has run at the Niswonger Invitational. "It was a tough meet for us," said Coach Herbert. "It's early in the season and this meet allowed us to test our fitness level, see where we are at currently, and unfortunately for a lot of these guys, it was a wake-up call and a reminder of how important it is to train over break."
