The new season of 2008-09 brings excitement and anticipation for the men's and women's golf programs at Montreat College.

The men's team will be led by two returning sophomores, one redshirt freshman, three true freshmen and two transfers this fall.  Returning for Montreat and having played all of last season are sophomores Cory Howard (Statesville, NC) and Sean McKaig (Tryon, NC).   Redshirt freshman Vinny Picca (Monroe, NC) and true freshmen Joe Balliet (Charleston, SC), Cam Land (Statesville, NC) and local golfer Jacob Elliott-(Asheville, NC) are the new faces for the program.  Add to the mix junior college transfer, Nathan Blakenship (Paris Community College, Paris, Texas) who finished 15th in the JuCo National Championship this past spring to earn All American Status for JuCo's and NCAA Division I transfer Tyler Dellinger (Spruce Pine, NC), the Cavaliers have a solid men's roster for the coming AAC conference and tournament season.
