As the new semester approaches, so does the upcoming Cross Country season for the Cavaliers at Montreat College. With returning Seniors Lindsay Mizok and Jared Nielsen leading the way, the Cavalier XC program is looking forward to a strong season of competition in the AAC. The program will be welcoming some new faces as well this semester with a number of top recruits joining the Cavalier athletic program.
On the women's side, the Cavalier's lone returner is Senior Lindsay Mizok, the Cavalier's top female athlete in recent years. "We are so blessed to have Lindsay back for another year," says Coach Herbert "because she's not only a talented athlete and a potential national qualifier, she's a strong leader on our team as well." Joining Mizok will be Junior transfer Lauren Kelly (FL) and Freshman Dagny Signorelli (NV). "It's disappointing to not have a full team this year, but we will look to grow the program in the very near future. In the meantime, the Lord has blessed us with three very talented athletes on the women's side this season. We'll pick up some girls to run at conference so we'll have a full team, and hopefully a couple of these girls can make it to the NAIA National meet out in Vancouver, WA this year," says Herbert.
Coach Snyder had this to say about the upcoming Cross Country season. "I am really excited for this year's Cross Country season. We have some new runners who will be huge additions to our program over the next few years, and it will be interesting and fun to see how they progress. We feel like we had a great finish to the Track and Field season last year so I am looking forward to watching that success carry over to Cross Country. God has blessed us, and we hope to use those blessings to glorify him."
The Cavalier's open up their XC season at North Greenville University on September 7th.
