The Cavaliers women's soccer program will be holding a Girls Elite Prospect Camp at our Black Mountain Campus, June 25-29th. Invited players are rising seniors, juniors and sophomores. Training sessions will focus on challenging each player in the following areas: #1 - physical athleticism, #2- technical skills and ball control, #3 - tactical understanding, positional movement, and #4 - mental intelligence.

The Montreat Cavalier Cross Country program is proud to announce the addition of four new athletes to the women's team for the 2012-2013 school year. Montreat track and field athlete Brooke Alexander will join the Cavalier XC squad for the first time, joining Junior transfer Kathleen Cleary (Wake Forest) as well as freshmen Emma Sheets (VA) and Brittany Urban on this year's incoming class. "I'm very excited about these additions," says Coach Herbert.

[Track and Field] Cavaliers Bring Home AAC Champions of Character Award

After competing in the AAC Conference meet in Johnson City, Tennessee, the Cavalier Track and Field Team was awarded the AAC Champions of Character Award.

Criteria for the Champion of Character Institutional Award: The institution needs to show how the institution intentionally implements the NAIA Champions of Character philosophy in the intercollegiate athletic program and provide a listing of the on-campus and community leadership and involvement efforts of student-athletes and staff.

The five core values of Champions of Character are integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Congratulations to the Montreat Track & Field Team for representing the school so positively.

"We take great pride in winning this award," said Coach Herbert. "The coaches in the conference vote on the winners every year, and we've enjoyed an excellent tradition of success. Our school and program remained committed to service, Christ-like character, and the Champions of Character program."

[Track and Field] Cavaliers Have Rough Showing in Cincinnati

Cavalier senior captains Jared Nielsen and Lindsay Mizok competed in the Flying Pig Half-Marathon/Marathon event in Cincinnati this Sunday, representing Montreat College at the event for the second straight year. While the Cavs used the event last year to qualify two athletes for the NAIA championships, this year's run was unsuccessful, due in part to tough running conditions.

[Track and Field] Cavs Compete at Clemson

Junior Billy Parker and Freshmen Andy Roof and De'Andre Young competed today the Bob Pollock Spring Invitational hosted by Clemson University. Parker ran 15.78 in the men's 110 meter hurdles and jumped a 1.89m (6'2.25'') in the high jump. While the hurdle time was not indicative of Parker's abilities, the 1.89m High Jump is the highest jump in the recorded history of Montreat athletics. Roof, who was attempting to qualify for nationals in the men's 1500 meter, ran a 4:02:55, earning a PR and finishing 6th overall, but just missing the NAIA qualifying standard. Young,who was slated to run in the 400 meter dash and 200 meter dash, pulled a muscle about half way through his 400m heat.
