David Pennell is entering his seventh year as head coach of the Montreat College golf program and his eleventh year of coaching overall.  In his tenure at Montreat, the Cavalier's Men have established four school records in scoring, started a women's golf program, and won one women's NAIA Region XII championship (2007) and the women have established three scoring records.

Pennell is a 29-year Class A retired life member of the PGA. He also is a 33-year teaching professional.  David was selected as the 2007 AAC/Region XII Coach of the Year for women's golf. 

David has three children; Chip, a 2003 graduate of Montreat College, Stephanie, a freshman at Montreat and Ryan who is a junior in High School.
