
Jackson's third year at Montreat marked one of the biggest turnarounds in the country, with an 11 game improvement. The Montreat women's team started out on fire during the 2009-10 campaign, going 11-3 over the first 14 contests. The Cavaliers finished the season with a 21-10 record and an 8-8 AAC record; both marks were the school's best in almost a decade. The season included two overtime losses, a buzzer beating loss and a 72-60 win over AAC Tournament Champion Tennessee Wesleyan College.
Janel Cox and Whitney Boone were each named to the AAC Academic All-Conference team for the second time, while Chazaree Wright earned 1st Team All-Conference for the second consecutive season. Additionally, the Cavaliers had a player on the All-Freshman team for consecutive seasons, with Alicia Wallace being honored.
In addition to the national recognition, the Cavaliers ranked in the Top 3 of the Appalachian Athletic Conference in 15 team or individual categories, including leading the conference in blocked shots.
Individually the Cavaliers had Janel Cox and Whitney Boone named to the Academic All-Conference team and Kim Staley (All-Freshman and All-Defensive Team) and Chazaree Wright (1st Team All-Conference) were also honored.
Prior to coming to
The success of the Tigers took place despite repeatedly playing one of the toughest schedules in the country. Along with Coach Jackson's defeat of No. 19 UC Santa Barbara, the Tigers had eight games, over a four year span, against past NCAA National Champions. These past Champions included Stanford,
Coach Jackson's teams also proved to be crowd favorites, as they set both the top two single game and single season attendance records. The 2002-03 version of the Tigers saw over 11, 000 fans watch the Tigers play in 13 home contests.
Accolades did not escape the Tigers during Coach Jackson's time on the bench. The Tiger players received twenty-four All-Big West Conference selections during his eight years, including four players on the All- Freshman team and four 1st team All-Conference selections. The Tigers were awarded for classroom success as well, with two Big West Scholar Athletes of the Year, five Verizon District VIII Academic All- Americans, and a National Athletic Directors Association Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year award winner, while
Overall, this is Coach Jackson's 19th season as a coach and his 17th at the college level. Along with Pacific, he was a head coach at
Coach Jackson is married to the former Brooke Carrigan, a Hall of Fame member and All-American from Colorado Christian and Co-head Coach at Montreat. The couple resides in Asheville, North Carolina with their son, Parker.

Kathy Marlowe joins Montreat College for her first year as the women's basketball assistant and JV coach. Kathy comes to Montreat possessing 24 years of coaching experience.
She most recently coached at A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, North Carolina where she served as the varsity head coach from 2006-2010. As head coach at Reynolds, Marlowe comprised winning records all four years, won the 2010 MAC Conference Championship, was named the 2010 MAC Conference Coach of the year, and coached multiple players who earned college basketball scholarships.
Before becoming the varsity head coach, she acted as the assistant varsity basketball coach from 1986 to 2000 and again from 2002 to 2005. During this time, the Lady Rockets won multiple MAC conference championships and two state championships in 1990 and 2000. Previous to her role as the Varsity assistant Kathy coached at various levels. As the Junior Varsity head women's basketball coach from 1998-2000, her team went undefeated with a 21-0 record for the first time in the school's basketball history. She also coached at Cane Creek Middle School and A.C. Reynolds Middle school where she comprised winning records and one conference championship in 1986.
Coach Marlowe has taught high school students for twenty four years and currently works as a health and PE teacher at A.C. Reynolds High School. She works numerous basketball camps including Crossfire, UNC-Chapel Hill, North Carolina State, and Clemson. She is the faculty sponsor for Sports Outreach, which was formerly known as FCA at Reynolds and has participated in mission work in the United States and internationally.
Marlowe graduated with an Associate degree in Arts from Brevard College where she was point guard on the women's basketball team. She then earned her Bachelor of Science from Mars Hill College and her Masters in Health Promotion from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.
"We are very excited to have a coach and person of Kathy's caliber join our program. She is a proven, outstanding coach and an even better person. She will be a great addition to our coaching staff and as a role model to our players," says head coach Craig Jackson.
Janel Cox joins Montreat for her first season as the Cavaliers' varsity assistant and JV coach. Cox, who is a 2010 graduate of Montreat College, played for four years with the Cavaliers, three of which were for Coach Jackson.
Upon graduation, Cox traveled to South Africa and Zimbabwe where she worked with street children and orphans for 5 months, implementing Christian programs and providing relief aid. She most recently spent time in Haiti where she worked in mobile medical clinics with Haitian doctors and other volunteers.
As a player, Cox holds the single season, and career assist records at Montreat College, was named to the AAC All-Conference third team her senior year, was a part of the AAC All-Academic team for four years, and was an NAIA Academic All-American.
Cox graduated summa cum laude from Montreat College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology. She is from Sharpsville, Indiana, but currently resides in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
