
COLUMBIA, SC (September
24, 2008) -- The men and women's golf team both won their matches with
Benedict Wednesday at the Oak Hills Golf club in Columbia, SC. The men
beat two NCAA DII schools Benedict College from Columbia, SC and Paine
College from Augusta, GA. The Cavaliers shot 326, lead by freshman Cam Land from Statesville, NC. Cam shot 78. Benedict was second with a 352 and Paine College was third with a 440.
The Lady Cavaliers beat DII Benedict College in a dual match for the win. Courtney Brown
, a redshirt freshman from Shelby, NC, was leading after nine holes but
her playing opponent was unable to finish the round, so Courtney was
limited to just nine holes with her score. The leading scorer for the
Lady Cavaliers was freshman Savannah Biggs from Lambertville, MI.
The
Cavaliers travel to Southern Wesleyan University for the Jack Shadwick
Fall Invitational at Cross Creek in Seneca, SC on Sunday for the
practice round. The tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday,
September 29 & 30, 2008. The Lady Cavaliers will be off until
October 5th when both the men and women travel to AAC Fall Conference
Golf Tournament, hosted by King College at the Country Club of Bristol.
