Montreat College Women's Basketball Head Coach Craig Jackson this week announced that Avery County High School standout Sara Wiseman has signed to play for the Cavaliers beginning as a freshman in fall 2010.  The daughter of Jack and Elizabeth Wiseman, Wiseman will join a promising Montreat Cavalier team which won twenty games during the 2009-2010 season.

A frontcourt player at Avery County, Wiseman was named to the 2009-2010 All-Conference team for the Western Highlands Conference after averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds a game as the Vikings finished with a sparkling 24-4 record, amassed the most wins in school history, and advanced to the N.C. state quarter-finals.  

Chosen to participate in the Rhododendron Blue/White All-Star Girls Basketball Classic in Skyland, NC, Wiseman asserted herself in the paint, pulling down 19 rebounds for the Blue team.

Jackson expressed excitement over Wiseman's decision to join the Cavaliers, who posted a 20-10 record last season while playing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
