Montreat College Head Golf Coach David Pennell announced on Friday, May 14 that Hope West has signed to play for the Cavaliers' women's golf team starting in fall 2010. West, a senior at North Hall High School in Gainesville, GA, is the daughter of Tim and Kemie West of Gainesville.

Montreat is coming off a strong season during which the Cavaliers completed the regular season as the AAC runner-up and participated in the 2010 Women's Direct Qualifier for the NAIA National Championship Golf Tournament, finishing fourth in the division.

Pennell's team was also named the 2009-2010 Appalachian Athletic Conference Champions of Character.  Sponsored by the Champions of Character, a nonprofit organization that works with athletic organizations including the NAIA, the award is given to teams that exemplify the organization's mission to compete with integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
