Montreat College men's soccer head coach Brenton Benware has announced the signing of midfielder Maximiliano Viera, who will join the Cavaliers soccer team for the fall 2010 season.  

Viera, who hails from Montevideo, Uruguay, has extensive playing experience with clubs like Liverpool Canelones and San Lorenzo 33. 

Benware can already envision where the Uruguayan will fit into his midfield: "Maxi will play in an offensive role from the forward and attacking midfield positions; he will make an immediate impact for us on the pitch as I believe he has the make-up to be a huge offensive threat for us.  I think his skill and quickness will help create many goal opportunities for our team."

For his part, Viera is also looking forward to his time at Montreat, saying, "I chose Montreat College because it is a great opportunity to grow as an athlete while studying for a degree.  I am excited to meet and learn from people of other traditions and cultures - not to mention the wonderful landscape where the campus is."
