Montreat College men's soccer head coach Brenton Benware has announced the signing of Michael Bruce, a goalkeeper from East Kilbride, Scotland who will join the Cavaliers for the fall 2010 season.

Bruce is the son of Sally and Kenny Bruce, and he comes to Montreat College after a two-year stint at Shorter College in Rome, GA.  During his time at Shorter College, he helped carry his team to a #17 NAIA national ranking.  

Prior to his collegiate experience, Michael played for Alloa Athletic (2006-2008) and Giffnock North Boys Club (2003-2006).  

Coach Benware has been able to see Bruce play on several occasions and believes the Scot will be a solid last man for the Cavalier defense.  Said Benware, "Michael brings an aggressive and tenacious spirit to the field.  He's very technical with both his hands and footwork, and he reads the game well.  I'm looking forward to having him defend our net!"
