Head Baseball Coach Mike Bender is proud to announce the signing of Benjamin Woodbury to the Montreat College Baseball team.  Woodbury, a senior catcher from Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the son of Greg Woodbury, an Air Force Chaplain, and Kathy Woodbury.

Woodbury is currently enjoying a strong senior campaign, hitting .385 with a 4 home runs and 17 RBI for the Lancers.  Bender is excited about both the quality of the young man and the player he has found in Woodbury: "Ben is going to contribute right away, as a player and as an outstanding citizen. He is a Christian student-athlete in every sense of the term."

Woodbury felt certain that Montreat College was ideal for him: "God has called me to Montreat so I can grow in my walk and to challenge me athletically and academically."

Former professional pitcher Byron Embry, a friend of the Woodbury family, salutes Woodbury's intangibles as an asset from which the Cavaliers will benefit.  "As a professional pitcher I can honestly say that Woodbury is the type of leader that I want behind the plate.  Coach Bender shows real leadership and character and that will serve Ben well."
