Montreat College's baseball team won the third game of three against Bryan College after dropping the first two in a home series played on April 16-17.  The weekend series left Montreat with a 4-15 record in Appalachian Athletic Conference play and at 13-25 overall and cemented Cameron Duckworth's standing as the AAC's premier power hitter.

Game one on Friday was a tense contest that carried into extra innings before the Lions won 10-9 in ten; the Cavs generated plenty of offense on the day but could not push across a run in the bottom of the final frame.  Duckworth, a senior from Asheville, NC, was 3-4 from the plate with a home run and 4 RBI while Steven Hoyle collected 3 hits and battled for 7 innings on the mound while recording 7 strikeouts.

Bryan College batters cracked two home runs during the first game on Saturday as the Lions eased to a 7-4 win to claim the three-game series.  Jordan Sells and Casey Duckworth both had two base hits, and Cam Duckworth added a home run for the second game in a row in a losing effort.

Head Coach Mike Bender roused his team for the series finale and received a strong pitching performance from senior Aaron Hughes, who allowed only 5 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 7 Lions in 7 innings and earning the win.  Geno Sanchez ripped two hits and added an RBI, and, for the third game running, Cam Duckworth drove a ball out for a homer.

Duckworth's 10th, 11th, and 12th homers of the season placed him atop the AAC in that category with two weeks left in the regular season.

The Cavaliers next travel to Buena Vista, Virginia to play two non-conference games against the Southern Virginia University Knights, who are currently 19-17.  First pitch for game one is at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 20.
