
Ben Hall, Cavaliers set several PBs at Lenoir-Rhyne's PowerSox Invitational
4/10/10 Hickory, NC - Montreat's track and field team traveled to Lenoir-Rhyne University on Saturday to compete in the PowerSox Invitational, at which ten schools were represented.
On the track, Daniel Dunn (Jr./Daytona, FL) made his first competitive appearance of the season, racing in the 3000m steeplechase. Daniel started a personal best parade for the Cavaliers when he ran 10:51, thirty-three seconds faster than he had previously run.
Off the track, freshmen William Parker (Fr./Rome, NY) and Noah Hall (Fr./Columbus, NC) started things off on the long jump runway. Parker once again set a school record in his 10th place finish, this time 5.9m (19' 4.75"), while Hall, in his career debut in the event finished in 13th place and leapt 5.1m (16' 10.75"). Parker also went on to set a school record when he jumped 1.75m (5' 9") in the high jump as he finished in 8th place.
Ben Hall (Jr./Columbus, NC) once again showed excellent form as the marathoner stepped down in distance to run a 4:09.27 1500m, a personal best that was good for 5th place. In the same event, Will Musto (So./Rocky Face, GA) ran three seconds quicker than his previous personal best with a 4:27.88 and a 27th place finish, and Winston Rheinbolt (Fr./Lima, Peru) ran a twelve second PB clocking 4:30.90 (29th place) in the "metric mile."
For the ladies, Lindsay Mizok (So./Weddington, NC) made her season debut on the track, running the 1500m event in 5:08.41 (5th place) and Kimberly Hibbit (Fr./Cleveland, OH) ran the first 1500 of her career in 6:01.31, good for 14th place. Hibbit also doubled back and ran the 800m event in 2:45.87, good for 15th place.
In the men's "two-lapper," Noah Hall ran a personal best 2:03.57, good for a 9th place 800m finish, while Will Musto ran a 2:05.13 in his first effort at the event since 2008, also a personal best and qualifying him for a 17th place finish.
The 5000m race finished the day for the Cavaliers. In the women's race, Lindsay Mizok finished in 2nd place with a time of 20:05.65, her best mark on the track. In the men's 5K, Ben Hall led from the gun, winning in outstanding fashion-his first collegiate victory-with a seven second personal best of 15:41.74.
