Janel Cox's third assist during Montreat College's recent victory over Hiwassee College was not remarkable in itself; after all, the Cavaliers were on their way to a comfortable 74-52 win.  However, the pass was noteworthy as it made her the all-time leader in the history of Montreat's women's basketball program with 338 career assists.  

Cox, a 5'5" senior point guard from Sharpsville, Indiana, has etched her name into the Montreat record books many times as she holds the school's single-game, single-season, and career assist marks.  

Cavaliers Head Coach Craig Jackson does not find Cox's contributions surprising, lauding her team-oriented play: "Janel has been instrumental in making us a competitive program and finished her sophomore season ranked 4th in the country in assists per game."  Further, Jackson notes that Cox "made the transition from shooting guard to point guard and has played unselfishly for Montreat for four seasons."  Four record-setting seasons, in fact.
