2009 Seniors
Head Coach Craig Jackson couldn't have asked for much more from the women's basketball team at Montreat College in their first six games of the 2009 season. After an unbeaten week, the Lady Cavaliers stand at 5-1, a mark that pleases Jackson: "We are off to our best start since 2001 and already have more road victories than we had for all of last season."
On Friday, November 13, Montreat collected a comfortable win when they traveled to Knoxville, TN and defeated Johnson Bible College 77-47. Leading the Lady Cavaliers to that 5-1 record were Janel Cox with 12 points and 5 rebounds, Tahjma Gabriel with 12 points and 6 steals, Stephanie Morrison's 11 points and Chaecie Bullock's 10 points.
Other than an 8-point win over Columbia College, all of the Lady Cavaliers' victories have come by at least 30 points as a balanced attack - with five different players having led the team in scoring over the first six games - has made Montreat difficult to defend in the early going.
The stakes get a little higher for the Lady Cavaliers as four of their next five games feature opponents from the Appalachian Athletic Conference, starting with a game at Milligan College on Wednesday, November 18.
