The Cavs opened up their 2009 - 2010 season on the road against Florida College and despite a good showing, they came up short and lost by a final of 71-59. Montreat was outscored 20-8 in the final eight minutes of the game. High scorers for the Cavaliers were Dustin Harris (12 points), Kevin Hanlon (10 points), and Terrell Mosely (10 points). Alexandrou and Hastings led all scorers in the match for Florida College with 15 points apiece.

Coach Bennett says, "We played hard but did not make enough plays down the stretch to win the game. We were ahead with eight minutes to go, and could not make shots during the final minutes. We had decent looks and opportunities, but the ball just would not go in the basket. Credit to Coach Mitchell's team at the end of this game -- they made plays when the game was on the line."

Coach Bennett and the team will take on Embry Riddle (ranked 14th in the NAIA) tomorrow in Daytona Beach before a November 10th Emmanuel College match up.
