Senior Lyndsey Wall
Lyndsey Wall played a fine volleyball match last night, providing ten assists and hustling as she has for the past three and a half seasons.  On a very young Montreat College team, Wall was the only player recognized on Senior Day by Head Coach Christine Mooberry, the rest of the squad, and a home crowd that applauded her and her mates' effort even as they were beaten by powerhouse Union College.

As a symbol of a proud past and a bright present, Wall was no more pleased with defeat than Mooberry was, but the immediate and long-term future for the program is very bright.  Union may boast a first-place 14-1 record in the Appalachian Athletic Conference as the conference tournament approaches, but the Lady Cavaliers are a force to be reckoned with - next week and next year.

Wall wrestled with competing emotions during Monday night's match as she saluted the "amazing support coming from the stands" and stated that Montreat College has "the best fans in the conference."  And while she praised Coach Mooberry for the past two years of guidance and coaching and thanked God for the great blessing of playing collegiate volleyball, she expressed surprise that her four years as a member of the team are "almost over."

But Wall knows well that there is much yet to play for this year.

At 11-3 in the AAC and 23-16 overall, Mooberry's team has had a long season to get battle-tested and gain experience.  With ten players in either their sophomore or freshman year, the Cavaliers have exceeded many expectations and seem set to take a third seed into the conference tournament.

Against Union, Wall was helped by Alyssa Kaufman's 9 kills and Natalie Nieman's 12 assists, but the Lady Bulldogs swept the Cavaliers 25-21, 25-16, 25-18 to raise their overall record to 23-4.
