The final week of October saw two players from Montreat College's Men's Soccer team obtain a Player of the Week award from the Appalachian Athletic Conference.  The recipients are freshman midfielder Javier Cuellar and freshman forward Paul Connell.

Cuellar received the Defensive Men's Soccer Player of the Week award for his outstanding defensive play on the field.  His relentless effort helped the Cavaliers allow only one goal - a penalty kick - while collecting victories against both Lee University and McConnell College.

Connell, on the other end of the spectrum, netted the Offensive Player of the Week award by scoring both winning goals of the week. He nailed the first and only goal against Lee University and then chalked up another one during a tie game against Truett-McConnell to give the Cavaliers the lead they never relinquished in a 2-1 win.

Head Coach Brenton Benware is proud of both of his freshmen players. "They have made some great achievements this season," he said, "and I am excited to see where they will go during the next several years."
