It won't be long before signee Anne Newsom will be joining our Montreat College community, entering as 2010 setter for the Lady Cavaliers volleyball team. Currently, Anne is a senior at Hickory Grove Christian School in Charlotte. This week, she was named MaxPrep Player of the Week for the state of North Carolina, which is a very prestigious honor.

The award program is a partnership between the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and CBS MaxPreps, Inc.This is a huge accomplishment, since only one of these honors is given out each week to just one player at one high school in the whole state.

Coach Christine Mooberry is thrilled about the achievements of her upcoming setter. "We are super excited to have Anne join the family here at Montreat College. She's a great fit for the college, an excellent student, and a standout player. To add this accomplishment to her list continues to show her skill and leadership, we are extremely proud of her and how she has developed the gifts and talents God has given her. We can't wait to have her on the court next year." And if her high school performance is any indication, then Anne Newsom will no doubt be a very welcome addition next year to the Lady Cavs team.
