Montreat College continued their strong AAC play last night, downing Bluefield College in three games, 25-20, 25-20, 25-6.

Allie Baumgartner had 14 kills on the night, putting the junior middle back from Charlotte, NC in an exclusive club. Her seventh kill of the night, coming in the first game, marked her 1,000th in Montreat College Volleyball play. Offensively, the rest of the team poured on the heat as well. Alyssa Kaufman had 16 kills, Natalie Nieman had 23 assists and 2 service aces on the night and Anna Stephenson had 1 solo block and 3 block assists. The Lady Cavs are now 10-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Head Coach Christy Mooberry says, "We took a huge step forward against Bluefield.  We have been struggling to play our level of play against weaker teams. And the first two sets were no different.  The score was 25-20 both of the first two sets. Then, it seemed to click for the girls, the understanding and the need to play our level in the face of adversity (that adversity being playing down to the level of a team that was struggling to play well). They were able to take the third game 25-6, and three of BC's points were our service errors. Allie was able to attain and exceed 1000 career kills tonight, a huge accomplishment as a young junior.  The team played well, especially well the third game, and I'm excited to see how we progress as we exceed the expectations of a young team."
Luke 11 talks about being bold and persistent in prayer. We have been praying that God will help us to honor Him on the court, exceed expectations, and give us a platform to be a solid testimony.  Mr. Bostic, who is Hannah's dad sent me the following email and also prayed for the girls before the Bluefield match.  This is the heartbeat of our team…

Dear Heavenly Father,

We pray this day you would have your hand of favor on the Montreat Volleyball Team and Coaches.  I pray you would instill in them a flame that burns with a desire to be victorious in each battle ahead of them.  May they overcome adversity as it comes their way.  Give them the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Daniel and the heart of David.  Use them in a mighty way this year to shine that you may be glorified on and off the court.  Grow them physically, mentally and spiritually.  Hide them under the shadow of your wing of protection as they travel to and from the games.  May they wait upon you Lord as you renew their strength and then may they mount up with wings of eagles so they may run and not be weary and walk and not be faint.

Be ye soldiers of faith Montreat Cavaliers for the Lord is with you.  Serve him with gladness and be encouraged that the path ahead is yours to conquer.  You have potential beyond your imagination.  Fight the good fight and finish the race.

Amen."
