Sean McKaig, the leading Montreat scorer in yesterday's round
The Montreat College Men's and Women's Golfers will take to the course again today at their opening competition for the year, the 2009 Union College Bulldog Fall Invitational. After the first round of play, the Lady Cavs are poised for a strong finish.

Their combined team score of 378 is good enough for second place at this point, and 20 strokes off the leader, Union College. It was Tiffany Willis of Union that fired the low score of the day, an 81. Linzy Cook was the leader for the Montreat players, shooting a 90 in the round, putting her in a four-way tie for fourth place. Ashley Mitcham came in right behind her with a 91 on the day.

It was sophomore Sean McKaig that led the way for the Montreat men's squad, posting an 80, only five shots back of the leader yesterday. McKaig owns ninth place outright before this morning's final round. It was Reinhardt College that came out on top of the pack with an overall score of 313 yesterday. Less than 20 strokes separate first and fifth place team finishes at this point in what has been some very strong competition.
