Crews signs at Montreat College
Charles Crews of Kernesville, NC has committed to play basketball for Montreat College this season. He is transferring from NC Agricultural and Technical State University. He is a recent graduate of Glenn High School in Kernesville, where he averaged 10 PPG and 5 APG for the Bobcats while maintaining Honor Roll academic performance in the classroom.
Charles says, "The minute I stepped foot on campus I felt comfortable and like it was the school for me. It's a good environment." After college, Crews hopes to coach youth basketball someday to keep exploring his love for the game and for younger kids just learning. It sounds like a great fit with his passion for the sport. He says, "I've been playing so long, it just relaxes me. I feel at home [on the court]."
Looking back, Crews sees that he owes a lot to his mother, saying "I'd like to thank my mom for pushing me in the classroom and making me work my hardest."
Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach Lincoln Walters is excited about the experience and leadership Charles will be bringing to the team this season. He says, "Charles is a very hard worker. I think he's going to be a great addition to the team. Being a transfer from NC A&T, he also brings a lot of knowledge and experience with him, and that's something we'll need this year."
