Madalyn Stagnaro, the latest Women's Soccer recruit the Montreat College 2009 fall season
Montreat College
Head Womens Soccer Coach Don Maples announces the signing of Madalyn Stagnaro for the 2009-2010 season. Stagnaro
marks the eighth commitment for Montreat College women's soccer for the 2009
season. Madalyn Stagnaro is a 5'5" striker/mid-fielder from Annapolis,
MD. She is the daughter of Victor and Lori Ann Stagnaro, has an older
brother, Clifton, two older sisters, Natalie and Evelyn, and three younger
siblings, Warren, Melanie and Nathan. Madalyn will be pursuing as degree in Human
Services at Montreat College.
Madalyn is a four-year starter for Rockbridge Academy HS,
coached by Dick Sentz. She has led the team in scoring. Madalyn was also named
to the All-Tournament team in the 2008 season. Coach Sentz describes Madalyn as
a very hard worker who has great speed and loves to win headers. "If it's in
the air Maddie will win it most of the time. She doesn't back down from those
physical challenges." Coach Craig Buck says, "Her speed is such a weapon. When
she plays against boys teams they have a tough time running her down. She is
very knowledgeable and the go to person on our team. I see her as a natural
leader and captain personality whose motor goes non-stop. Maddie will be great
for the team and a huge asset."
Madalyn says, "I wanted to come to Montreat because of
its Christian foundations, its academic reputation and to play for a fine up
and coming athletic program. The campus is beautiful, scenic, and when I
visited all the students and faculty were so friendly. As for being on the soccer
team, I want to bring my passion for the game, competitiveness and team support
to the Lady Cavaliers. I have a desire through my training and playing to
glorify God for the talents He has given me."
Coach Maples says, "We are thrilled to have Madalyn commit
to Montreat College. We hit it off the first time we met. The story behind how
she came here is something I will remember forever. Madalyn is smart, has a
great personality, and it has been a pleasure to get to know her heart,
desires, and what she wants from this experience. I am expecting her to make things
happen. Her speed, quickness, and high work rate are such assets to this
program. Montreat College was the fit
and we give glory to God for Madalyn committing to be a Lady Cavalier."
We welcome Madalyn and her family to Montreat College.
