The long summer days at Montreat College are full of sunshine, rain, seasonal guests and big plans. Among the folks dreaming big dreams is Head Men's Soccer Coach Brenton Benware. He knows that the Fall will be upon us all too soon, so he and his guys are in full gear, getting ready for next season. Coach Benware has released an ambitious 2009-2010 season schedule that he hopes will propel the Cavs into a division championship and beyond, into NAIA National Tournament play. After a 12-4-1 record last season that had the Cavaliers ranked as high as #11 in the nation, the men are out to make their mark next season. Benware says, "Once again, we play Lindsey Wilson College (ranked #1 NAIA) and University of the Cumberlands (ranked #13 NAIA), and we play both schools at their home sites.  Although we had wins over both competitive programs this past season, we know we have a lot of work cut out for us.  Lee University (TN) and Shorter College have been added to our schedule.  These teams also earned spots in the top 25 rankings (NAIA) during their 2008 campaigns.  We'll battle against several competitive NCAA Div-II opponents, as well as our extremely competitive conference.  In order to see post-season play, we must achieve good results against our conference rivals.  Last season, six of our eight conference teams achieved at least a .500 winning percentage within the conference schedule, so we anticipate another challenging year to fight for the top conference spot."

With returning veterans and strong senior players, the Cavs are poised to make the very most out of such a host of rigorous challenges!
