May 21st, 2009 - Montreat College Head Women's Volleyball Coach Christy Mooberry announces the sixth recruit signed for the Lady Cavalier's 2009 season today. Alyssa Kaufman is a 5'7" outside from Kaukauna, WI. She is the daughter of Jim and Tracey Kaufman and has three brothers, Jared, Justin and Jordan.

Alyssa attends Kaukauna High School and has played volleyball since the fifth grade.  In Alyssa's junior year her high school team was Fox Valley Association Conference Champs and made it to the first round at the State Tournament.  Her senior year the Kaukauna High School Volleyball team made it to Sectional Finals and won the FVA Conference Tournament, as well as winning a handful of tournaments throughout the season.  Alyssa has also played club volleyball for Wisconsin Volleyball Academy for the last four years.  
"Alyssa is a very athletic and competitive player. Growing up playing all kinds of sports and with three brothers has helped shape Alyssa into the competitor that she is. Despite her somewhat small height for a college volleyball player, she really stands out.  She plays with passion, intensity and aggression.  She wants to win.  I believe she wants to work hard and will embrace the opportunity to play at the next level.  I'm excited about the intensity that she'll bring to the court.  She's also a well-developed player, with her experiences on a great club team and a solid high school program."
Alyssa carries a 3.667 GPA and is looking at majoring in Pre-Med or following in her mom's footsteps with Education.
Alyssa says she is excited about "being in a different environment and learning a lot of new things academically and involving my faith.  I am hoping to grow as a person and player by playing volleyball and also just having lots of fun and making some great friends."   
Alyssa belongs to Holy Cross Parish and helps out with the October Fest they put on every year.
