Montreat College Head Womens Soccer Coach Don Maples is announcing the signing of Amber Yancey for the 2009-2010 season. Yancey marks the seventh commitment for Montreat College women's soccer for the Fall 2009 season.  Amber Yancey is a 5'2" wing mid-fielder/forward from Hendersonville, NC. She is the daughter of Scott and Lynda Yancey. She has two older brothers, Chris and Drew and an older sister, Amy.

Amber attends Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, NC, where she has played varsity soccer for the last four years. The team is coached by Freddy Ovideo. At Hendersonville High she was named All-Region and All-Conference. Amber has also received the Coaches Award and was a Kiwanis All-Star the last two years.

When asked about Montreat, she says, "It's such a beautiful location and an amazing, well-rounded school. I really wanted to play in college and Montreat College is allowing me the opportunity to pursue my degree and my love of soccer."

Coach Maples says, "Amber is a very aggressive player on the field, has good technique with the ball and very rarely lets pressure bother her. She is quick and likes the physical challenges to win balls. Her work ethic is something I liked as I have watched her practice and play. Bringing that tough, competitive personality to our squad will make us tougher. Amber is her own person, isn't pretentious about who she is, and is as genuine as anyone I have met. Everyone I spoke to, from the principal, guidance counselors and coaches all say Amber is a solid young lady and we will be lucky to have her. Once again God has brought to us a great representative to our team, school and community. We welcome Ashley and her family to our Montreat College family."
