Brenton Benware, Head Men's Soccer Coach for the Cavaliers has just signed Javier Ernesto Cuellar Duarte of San Salvador, El Salvador to the team that is quickly shaping up to have championship contender potential again next season. Javier, a midfielder, is the son of Mario Ernesto Cuellar Martinez and Maria Margarita Duarte de Cuellar of San Salvador. Javier played nine years with the Academia de futbol Chelona in San Salvador from 1996-2005, and then brought his game to Oklahoma City University in the fall of 2006.
He is excited about coming to Montreat College, saying, "I chose Montreat because it's a great community where you can grow up as a student, and as a person. They also have a great soccer team and business program."
Benware is also excited about the news, saying, "Javier brings collegiate experience to our squad as he spent a year playing soccer at the competitive Oklahoma City University. His size, strength, maturity and ability to read the game will make him an immediate impact player for us at the midfield position. Javier adds additional depth to our team, and I'm anxious to have him on the field soon."
