Senior Garrett Jones
MONTREAT, NC (April 28, 2009) -- Garrett Jones understands what it means to be a student-athlete at Montreat College. Not only has the senior pitcher from Elwood, IN received recognition for his athletic ability, but Garrett was recognized today for his academic achievements as well. Last week, Jones was recognized by the AAC and NAIA as Pitcher of the Week.
Today in Montreat College's Honors Convocation, Garrett received the 2009 Hicks Anderson Business Award which is awarded to a graduating business major who shows excellence in their academics and possesses a servant's heart. The award was first given in 2001 in honor of long-time Montreat College business professor Hicks Anderson. Mr. Anderson continues to teach as an accounting professor at Montreat College.
"Garrett is the kind of student that every professor admires," remarked Business Department Chair David Walters. "He is always prepared, exceeds the standard, and will take the time to assist other students. He truly deserves being selected as this year's recipient of the Hicks Anderson Outstanding Business Student Award."
Garrett is planning on graduating this May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
