GREENEVILLE, TN (April 21, 2009) -- The Montreat College women's softball team traveled to Greeneville, TN on Tuesday to take on NCAA Division II Tusculum College in non-conference action.

The Cavs fell short in game losing falling 6-4 to the Pioneers.  Meredith Mitchell picked up the loss fo rthe Cavs allowing six runs off of ten hits.  Montreat's seven hits were scattered between players. Montreat held a 2-0 advantage going into the bottom of the fifth, but that is when Tusculum knocked in five runs.  The Pioneers would score one more in the sixth inning.  Montreat would score two more runs in the seventh, but it was not enough.

In game two, sophomore Rachel Stowe picked up the win, defeating Tusculum 5-3.  Montreat scored all five runs in the second inning, including a two-run homerun by junior Erin Cross. Senior Amy Vogel had a good day at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBI's. Sophomore Jamie Poling went 2-for-4, while teammates Amber Summerow, Tiffany Davis, and Rachel Stowe each had one hit.

With the split, Montreat stays at .500 for the year with a record of 20-20.
