MONTREAT, NC (April 17, 2009) -- The Montreat College softball team celebrated senior day on Friday in their conference doubleheader against Bluefield College. Sophomore Rachel Stowe pitched a stellar game only giving up one hit and striking out six batters through five innings of play. The Cavs would win game one 8-0 in five innings.
The bats were sparking for the Cavs as the women accumulated 14 hits in game one. Leading the way for Montreat was freshman Tameron Sealey who went a perfect 4-for4 from the plate. Seniors Mandi Pike and Amy Vogel had two hits apiece, while junior teammate Kerby Barkdoll also had two hits. Olivia Huffman, Amber Summerow, Tiffany Davis, and Erin Cross all had one hit apiece for the Cavs.
In game two, sophomore Meredith Mitchell pitched a great game going seven innings only giving up one run off of six hits while striking out five batters. Amy Vogel, Tameron Sealey, and Jamie Poling each had two hits apiece for the Cavs, while teammates Mandi Pike, Olivia Huffman, and Tiffany Davis had one hit apiece.
With the sweep, Montreat improves to 9-5 in the AAC and .500 overall with a record of 19-19.
