One of Cam's 7 Homers Last Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The past two weeks have been memory-making for junior Cavalier Cameron Duckworth. Duckworth was selected on Monday as the AAC Player of the Week and today the NAIA announced Cam as the NAIA Baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 20-26. This award is the final Player of the Week for the 2009 season.
Duckworth, a 6-3 junior leftfielder/first baseman from Asheville, N.C., broke the school's single-season record for home runs during a 7-0 week for Montreat. With eight homers during the week, Cameron now stands with 24 on the season. He had back-to-back games with multi-homers and had a 3-for-3 game against Southern Virginia. He had five games with two or more hits.
In seven games last week, he batted 12-for-22 (.545) with a 1.727 slugging percentage. He knocked eight homers, drove in 19 runs, scored 14 times and was 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts, including a steal of home.
In national statistics, Cameron is third in home runs/game (0.522), ninth in slugging percentage (.925) and 19th in total bases/game (2.96).
Cam is the son of Terry and Jan Duckworth of Asheville, NC.
