BRISTOL, VA (April 24, 2009) -- Montreat College won two of three from King College to take the series by the scores of 10-1 and 2-0 but lost the last game 1-2. Montreat College got complete game victories from Garrett Jones (Elwood, IN.) and Patrick Ballew (Gloucester, VA.). Ballew gave up nine hits and recorded six strikeouts while only allowing the one run. Jones threw ten innings and recorded seven strikeouts for the shutout and earning him the AAC and NAIA pitcher of the week. Josh Ashton (Greenville, NC.) and Chris Allen (Murphy, NC) each had three hits apiece for the Cavaliers with Ashton recording his 14th homerun of the season in the 10-1 victory. Cam Duckworth (Asheville, NC) had the big hit in the second game with a right center gap double and scoring on a Chris Allen single for the game winning run in the second game.

In the third game, Seth Blevins (Ringgold, GA.) and  John Shannon (Waynesville, NC) pitched effectively holding King College to three hits and two runs but could get no support at the plate in the 1-2 loss. Montreat moves to 24-16 on the year and 13-10 in conference.
