Contributing significantly to back-to-back wins last week by the Cavs' volleyball team, senior Kendra Johnson (SR/Ararat, NC) won deserved recognition as the AAC's Defender of the Week.

On Tuesday, the Cavaliers snapped a three-match losing streak (all within the AAC) when they captured a straight set road win over Tennessee Wesleyan (25-11, 25-17, 25-23). In that match, Johnson had 15 digs for Montreat, tops for the team, and added two assists.

Two days later, Montreat was back in action at home against the Bob Jones Bruins. Johnson had a match-high 22 digs, as the Cavaliers rolled past the Bruins (25-16, 25-12, 25-13). She added an assist to her night's work and is now third in the conference for digs per set, averaging 4.8.

Last year, Johnson earned two All-American honorable mentions (Tachikara-NAIA and AVCA), a North Carolina first team All-State selection, AAC Libero of the Year recognition, and first-team All-AAC honors.
