The Montreat College track team was represented well at this weekend's exclusive Duke University Track & Field Invitational.  The small contingent of Cavaliers ran against some of the nation's best NCAA talent.

Highlighting the Cavaliers' accomplishments was Talisa Bishop.  Bishop led the 5000m race until being overtaken in the final 1000m by Lenior-Rhyne's Katie Griewisch, a Johns Hopkins and University of West Virginia runner.  Bishop finished in 18:46.70 to finish 4th out of 32 competitors.

Also competing very well for Montreat was junior Wilbourn Kosgei.  Kosgei competed in the highly competitive seeded heats of the 800m.  This was Kosgei's first 800m race since last May.  He finished third in his heat with a near-national qualifying time of 1:55.29.

Ben Hall and Artie Adkins also represented Montreat by competing in the 5000m and the 3000m steeple chase.

The Cavaliers will now prepare for the 2009 AAC Track Championships held April 23rd and 24th on the campus of Western Carlolina University in Cullowhee, NC.
