Chattanooga, TN - At the AAC Conference Tournament on Friday, the players who received conference awards were celebrated. The Montreat men's and women's tennis teams both had players nominated to the Champions of Character team and the All-Academic team, while the women's team had one nominated to the the All-Freshman team.

On the men's side, senior Tanner Wilhoit was placed on the Champions of Character team for the third straight year. Wilhoit was also joined by Leo Lucero and Eric Dunlap on the All-Academic Team. This team requires the student-athletes to maintain a 3.25 GPA and be at least a sophomore academically.

On the women's side, senior Taylor Lunsford was nominated to the Champions of Character team and was joined by Kaitlyn Thomas and Hayley Taylor on the All-Academic team. Elizabeth Beary was nominated to the All-Freshmen team, which celebrates the top freshmen across the conference.

"I couldn't be happier with the awards this group of players received this year," head coach Andrew Cobb said. "Seeing Tanner nominated to Champions of Character and All-Academic team for the third straight year show what type of leadership he signifies, as does seeing Taylor being placed on the Champions of Character and All-Academic team for the second straight year. Eric, Leo, Hayley, and Kaitlyn have all put the work in on the court but more importantly in the classroom and it's great to see them recognized for that. And Elizabeth being placed on the All-Freshmen team is a great honor as well."

The men's tennis team posted the most wins in regular season in a decade by finishing 10-14, as did the women's tennis team with finishing 6-13.
