LAURINBURG, NC - The Montreat men's lacrosse team scored a signature win over St. Andrews on Saturday, 19-13. It was the first AAC victory for the team in program history and came over a Knights' squad that went 12-5 and qualified for the NAIA National Invitational in 2016.

"Coach Kam and I are proud of the men for letting themselves excel in this game. Our key players really stepped up, and our developing players are starting to come into their own," said Coach McMinn. "They have the stuff sometimes realizing it is the hardest step. They have been working hard all year. Their coaches have been waiting for them to realize what they've got and let fly. I think that barrier busted this weekend."

Offensively, attackman Chris Jackson (FR/Hendersonville, NC) registered seven goals and added an assist while fellow attackman Jordon Faubert (JR/Windsor, Ontario) added five goals and two assists. Middies Mark Switzer (JR/Lakeside, CA) and Kyndell Overton (FR/Halethorpe, MD) each had two goals as part of the most prolific scoring effort in program history.

Rounding out the goal-scoring for Montreat were Noah Robertson (FR/Wilmington, NC), Kevin Crudo (JR/Petaluma, CA) and Alex Wheet (JR/Durham, NC).

Gabe DeBeus (SO/Asheville, NC) had five ground balls defensively while Dakota Henson (SR/Arden, NC) posted 11 saves to register the win. His 83 saves in NAIA play are good for a #13 spot nationally.

The Cavs travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky to face the University of the Cumberlands Patriots (6-4) of the AAC at 7:30 pm this Saturday.
