MONTREAT, NC - The Montreat College tennis teams hosted Georgetown College (Ky.) this past Friday. The Cavaliers dropped both matches, 9-0.
Both teams started out 2-0 down by forfeiting line 6 singles and line 3 doubles. Matches were more competitive in singles, but the Cavaliers failed to have any matches go in their favor. On the women's side, at No.1 singles, Elizabeth Beary would put up a fight but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-1, while on the men's side Tanner Wilhoit would have the closest match of the day, losing 8-5 at No.5 singles.
"The players knew that this would be a tough match," head coach Andrew Cobb said. "Georgetown is a deep team so it was great competition right before we have our first conference date. Any match is tough when you start out 2-0 down, but it was great to see the players step up again and leave it all on the court."
