SAVANNAH, GA (March 2, 2009) --  It was an unusual blustery cold day for golf in Savannah, GA on Monday, but it did not deter the host school and Berry College who sit atop the leaderboard after the first round of the 2009 SCAD Spring Invitational played Monday (March 2) at the Wilmington Island Club.

The Montreat College women's golf team sits in 15th place and shot 388 on the par-71, 5,805-yard layout.

Leading the way for the Cavaliers is freshman Brittany Zachrich with a score of 93.  Junior Ashley Mitcham and sophomore Caitlin Dempsey each carded a 96, while junior Aimee Turner shot a 106.

Northwood's Emelie Andersson leads the 83-player field as she carded an even par round of 71 to lead the tournament by a stroke over USCB's Adriana Saavedra.
