MONTREAT, NC (January 27, 2009) -- Montreat College inducted 11 students into the Alpha Chi North Carolina Tau Chapter today during convocation services on the Montreat campus.  Junior student-athletes Stephen Jackson and Katie Kovarik were recognized and part of the induction party.  Jackson, a member of the men's soccer program and Kovarik, a member of the women's soccer team, are part of the top ten percent of Montreat College's senior and junior classes.

Alpha Chi is a national honor society dedicated to promoting academic excellence and exemplary character. Montreat's North Carolina Tau Chapter was established in 1990, and each year the faculty vote to induct a group of students representing the top 10% of the junior and senior classes. In addition to receiving recognition for their academic achievements, these students have the opportunity to apply for certain scholarships and to make presentations at Alpha Chi's annual national convention.

Jackson and Kovarik were also selected as NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes and AAC All-Academic.  Congratulations to Stephen and Katie.
